Annual Stewardship Appeal: Follow Up

1.    Please complete a contact sheet for each person you are to call.

2.    Script

a.    Hello, this is ________________ from <Congregation Name> Lutheran Church. Our commitment Sunday was <Date> I am calling to follow up on your stewardship appeal Statement of Intent.  There’s still time to participate.

b.    Do you have any questions about how to complete the intent form?

c.     I’d like to make arrangements to pick up the form from you.

        i.     They will decline this, which is ok.  Be prepared to share the other ways to submit

  • Email: <Email address to send it to>

  • Link: <Link to online pledge form>

  • Drop at church

  • Mail <Address>

3.    Possible responses:

  • “I don’t pledge.” That’s OK, I certainly understand. We want to make sure everyone is given an opportunity to participate in this campaign. If you will just make a note that you choose not to make a pledge on your form, we will make sure we don’t contact you again.

  • “I can’t make a large gift.” That is not a problem at all—gifts of all sizes are needed for us to be successful. I would be grateful though if you would still fill out the intent form letting us know what is a good amount for your gift commitment, regardless of the gift size.

  • “I’ll bring it next Sunday.” Thank you! Just place it in the offering plate (or in the basket up front). “I’ll mail it to the office.” That’s great, would you text me when it’s mailed so I can mark it off my list?

4.    Please note any pastoral concerns on the contact sheet and deliver directly to the pastors, maintaining strict confidentiality.

5.    Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude. That is our purpose!
